Legal Terms & Disclaimer

Guidance, not advice. We explain the rules, we don't assess your situation. Always seek financial or tax advice from your accountant, or contact HMRC. Read our editorial scope →
1. What TaxKiln is
TaxKiln publishes UK tax editorial — statute-grounded guides, plain-English explanations, and reference calculators. This is guidance, not advice. We are not a SaaS product, not a filing service, and not a tax advisory firm. The content is free and ungated; calculators are illustrative; rates are dated against publication; sources are cited.
See Editorial Scope for the full position on guidance vs. advice.
2. General information only
The information and calculations on this site are for general information and planning only and:
- May not reflect every rule, relief or edge case that applies to your situation.
- May not always match official HMRC calculations exactly.
- Should not be relied on as the sole basis for making tax or financial decisions.
You remain responsible for checking your own position using official HMRC guidance and/or a qualified professional before filing returns or taking action.
3. No client–advisor relationship
Using TaxKiln does not create a client–advisor relationship between you and us. We do not act as your accountant, tax agent, or financial advisor.
- We do not submit information to HMRC on your behalf.
- We do not monitor your deadlines or compliance obligations.
- We do not provide personalised advice or recommendations tailored to your specific circumstances.
- Any examples or "what if" scenarios shown by the calculators are illustrative only.
4. Accuracy of calculations
We aim to implement current UK tax rules faithfully — rest-of-UK and Scottish bands, devolved property taxes (LBTT), and UK-wide reliefs — and test calculators against worked examples and reputable estimators. However:
- Tax rules and thresholds can change, sometimes with little notice.
- Editorial updates and calculator revisions may contain bugs or simplifications.
- There may be differences between our estimates and your final HMRC calculation.
You should treat all outputs as estimates. It is your responsibility to confirm figures against official sources and, where appropriate, with a qualified adviser.
5. No liability for losses
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TaxKiln and its operators will not be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense arising from:
- Use of, or reliance on, any calculation, estimate, figure or information provided by the site.
- Any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in the editorial content or calculators.
- Any late filing, penalties, interest, additional tax, lost opportunities or other consequences of decisions you make.
You use this site at your own risk and are responsible for your own tax and financial compliance.
6. Third-party links and references
The site may refer to or link to third-party websites (for example HMRC, legislation.gov.uk, professional-body directories, or other reference sources) for convenience. We do not control these sites and are not responsible for:
- Their content, availability or accuracy.
- Any loss or damage arising from your use of them.
7. Use of the site
By accessing or using TaxKiln, you agree that:
- You will use the site only for lawful purposes.
- You will not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape at abusive volume, or misuse the service.
- You accept these legal terms and our privacy posture as the basis on which the site is provided.
8. Governing law
These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales in relation to any such dispute or claim.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update this page from time to time — for example if UK tax rules change, if editorial scope expands, or if we refine how the site is delivered. Any changes will be posted here with an updated "Last reviewed" date.
